Rob donates 50% of sales to Jamaican Self-Help on November 28 and 29

Jamaican Self-Help’s 14th annual Artisan Show & Sale will look a little different. This year, the organization invites you to shop online for local, handmade gifts, and I’ll donate 50% of all sales of linocuts and oil paintings to Jamaican Self-Help (JSH) during the two-day event. Email me at or call me at 1-705-933-9988 for any purchases, and mention JSH. My website includes all available work.

Shows in Fall 2019

This fall is turning out to a busy and exciting time, with a solo exhibition at the Art Gallery of Bancroft titled Nocturnal Reflections, opening November 1st, and participation in a number of other shows.

Also opening November 1 is Squared, a 50/50 fundraiser for the Art School of Peterborough. Six of my Celebration pieces, ranging from 6×6” to 24×24” are on the walls looking for new homes and supporting the art education programmes for this not for profit organization.

November 7 will see the opening of PRINT 2019 at the John B. Aird Gallery in Toronto, for which one of my Heads & Tales linocut-mixed media prints was accepted. This is a promising exhibition for fans of printmaking.

Five of my oil paintings are part of A Holiday Art Market at the Colborne Street Gallery in Fenelon Falls. This show runs from Thursday, November 7, 2019 until Sunday, January 5, 2020, with a reception on Thursday, November 21.

On November 23 and 24 I’ll be participating in the Jamaican Self-Help Artisan Show and Sale in Peterbrough with linocuts and my Heads & Tales works, as well as doing demonstrations. Funds raised during this show will support education and community development programmes in Jamaica, and in the inner-city of Kingston in particular.

And lastly, my most recent Nocturnes can be found at Studio22 Open Gallery in Kingston and at Meta4 in Peterborough.

Celebration – New Works by Rob Niezen at Studio 22 Open Gallery in Kingston

Studio 22 Open Gallery is delighted to present the solo exhibition Celebration – New Works by Rob Niezen.
Peterborough-based artist Rob Niezen marries his disparate influences, comic book art and classic impressionism, to produce graphic oil paintings which entertain and delight.

Incorporating his observations of everyday life, Niezen weaves a visual tale through his imaginatively narrative canvases. Life is rich with colour and experience; time is measured in moments shared with family and friends. Using light and colour, shadows and reflections, Niezen depicts table tops filled with glassware that sparkle and shine, signifying the joy of living life to its fullest.  A true master of painting sunlight — reflected and refracted, direct and indirect — Niezen’s bold use of colour, exaggerated angles, and unique perspectives lend drama to these unexpected images. Like snapshots of a perfect holiday, each canvas takes on the sense of a memento. Celebration is all about savouring life’s experience.

Celebration will be on display at Studio 22, located at 320 King Street East, Kingston from July 11 – August 19.

The opening reception starts at 8:00 pm on Saturday, July 15th.
Come meet the Artists and join us in celebrating the joy that Art brings to our lives.

Two other new summer exhibits will also be opening on July 11:
Kaleidos: Beautiful Forms by Diane Laundy
Baby Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me: Cameron Schaefer
